  2.     BACKUP PARTITIONS
  3.  
  4.  
  5.     You can use this module to perform incremental or full backups, or
  6.     to schedule backups, on file systems (disk partitions). You do not
  7.     need to know specific UNIX backup commands; Enlighten will prompt
  8.     you for all the information needed to create the backup. The Backup
  9.     Partitions window is shown below.

  11.  
  12.     You can have Enlighten catalog the backed-up files. To do so, turn
  13.     on the Catalog function in the Session Preferences menu item (see
  14.     "Session Preferences" on page 2-2). These catalogs can be queried at
  15.     a later time to help find instances of backed up files. The default
  16.     is NOT to keep a catalog of backed-up files.

  18.     If the catalog option is enabled, you should enter a catalog name in
  19.     the Catalog Name field. This can be a file name or just an
  20.     identifying tag. If no name is entered, the default name of NONAME
  21.     is used.

  23.     The rest of this section details the other backup options.

  25.     Full Backup
  26.  
  27.     This program will backup all files on the highlighted partitions.
  28.     The window displays a list of all current local and NFS mounted
  29.     partitions. Select the partitions you wish to backup. No other input
  30.     is necessary, except for the backup device name. Enter the logical
  31.     device name or click on the arrow button for a pick list of defined
  32.     backup devices.

  34.     Once you've selected the backup device name, click on the Full
  35.     button. A window will appear asking for confirmation of your action.
  36.     Once the backup is completed, the name of the file will be displayed
  37.     on the screen.

  39.     Incremental Backup
  40.  
  41.     This program will only backup those files in the highlighted
  42.     partitions which have been modified since a prior backup or were
  43.     modified in the last n days. You should use this for daily backups
  44.     since it runs much faster than a full backup. Highlight the
  45.     partition name(s) for incremental backup and enter the desired
  46.     backup device. (You can also click on the arrow button for a pick
  47.     list of available backup devices.)

  49.     Then, click on the Incremental button. A window will prompt you for
  50.     the type of incremental backup to run, as shown below.

  52.     The options are Backup files CHANGED:
  53.  
  54.     + Since last full backup (the default)
  55.     + Since last incremental backup
  56.     + Within time period (the last n days)
  57.  
  58.     You may select only one option. Once you've made all your
  59.     selections, click on the Apply button. As Enlighten does the backup,
  60.     a listing of each file it archives will be displayed in a window.

  62.     Schedule Backup
  63.  
  64.     This program helps you automatically schedule a full or incremental
  65.     backup. For further details on how this process works, see "Schedule
  66.     Backups" on page 6-17.
